Project Assistant - Doctoral Candidate (m/f/d)

Your Responsibilities

  • Writing a relevant dissertation, preferably cumulatively based on scientific journal publications
  • Conducting and analysing experiments in behavioural ecology with honeybees
  • Utilization and tuning of AI-tools for animal behavior classification
  • Benchmarking and testing technology in biohybrid beehives
  • Handling and management of living honeybee colonies in their hives
  • Study the spatio-temporal structure of honeycombs
  • Participation in research-related travel activities (workshops, conferences, project meetings)
  • Participating in collaborative research tasks within an international network of project partners
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks in the EU-projects RoboRoyale and Sensorbees

Your Profile

  • Master in biology, zoology or equivalent
  • The work requires regular contact with live honeybee colonies - so health clearance (e.g. no allergies) and a natural comfort level with bees are required
  • Practical knowledge in experimentation with bees / other social insects is advantageous
  • Good mathematical / computer skills are advantageous
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • High level of commitment and motivation for scientific work
  • High degree of personal responsibility and ability to cooperate
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team

We offer an annual gross salary of € 52,007.20 for a fulltime position.

  • Manipulation of living honeybee colonies in their hives
  • Studying honeybee dances within their foraging regulation system
  • Investigation and classification of physical and chemical properties of honeybee nutrients
  • Participation in research-related travel activities (workshops, conferences, project meetings)
  • Participating in collaborative research tasks within an international network of project partners
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks in the EU-projects RoboRoyale and Sensorbees

Your Profile

  • Master in biology, practical ecology or equivalent
  • Practical knowledge in experimentation with bees and other social insects is advantageous

  • Practical knowledge in plant sciences is advantageous
  • Good mathematical and computer skills are advantageous
